This page offers therapeutic exercises that I have recorded using scripts for you to download. These are great resources to help you to get in touch with your senses, become more self-compassionate and promote your mental well-being. I hope to get more recordings done soon and will add them to the list when I do.
If we have discussed a particular exercise in our session but you have forgotten what it was, please give me a call.
Soothing Rhythm Breathing
This is a 5 minute exercise to mindfully concentrate on your breathing. In doing this exercise, you are allowing yourself to connect with the calming and soothing part of the brain, this can be helpful in reducing negative emotions whilst promoting a more calming way of being. The most important thing whilst doing this exercise is to really attempt to concentrate on your breathing, it is normal for your mind to wonder. However, if you do find it wondering, then simply bring your attention back to your breathing and continue the exercise. Remember practice makes perfect and the more frequently you can do this exercise, the easier it becomes to do. When focusing on breathing there is a risk that the exercise may actually make some people feel more anxious, if you find this happening to you then please feel free to stop.
Three Minute Breathing Space
This is a 3 minute exercise to help you to get in contact with your present feelings, to notice your breathing and to connect with you body. It encourages a feeling of being grounded and aware of in the present, which can help you to take control of your responses.
