The advantages of Telephone Counselling and Online Counselling

No long waiting lists.

Access to counselling even when location, transport difficulties, disability, childcare, or other practical barriers might otherwise make support harder to reach.

Flexible counselling at a time agreed between you and your counsellor.

Counselling that allows you to take part from the comfort of your own home.

You can end a telephone call or video session at any point if needed, for example, if you are interrupted or things feel too much.

Increased anonymity can help reduce anxiety when speaking openly with your counsellor.

Disadvantages of Telephone Counselling and Online Counselling

Although there are many advantages to telephone and online counselling, there are also some limitations to consider.

Holding a telephone for 45 minutes can become uncomfortable or physically tiring for some people. This can often be managed by using a headset, which may also help with voice clarity, or by choosing online counselling or face-to-face counselling instead.

If you have hearing difficulties, depending on their severity, telephone counselling may not be the most suitable option.

After reading the advantages and disadvantages, you may feel that Telephone and/or Online Counselling isn’t the right counselling approach for you. If so, I also offer Face to Face Counselling that may be better suited to your needs.
