Maybe It's Time To Grow Up?

Taking responsibility for who you are becoming

Maybe It’s Time To Grow Up? is a reflective and thought-provoking book for adults who feel stuck, unsure what “growing up” really means, or who find themselves repeating familiar patterns despite gaining insight and understanding in their lives.

Drawing on my work as a counsellor, and grounded in humanistic psychology, it explores emotional maturity, responsibility, identity, and how we move beyond understanding ourselves into the lived experience of adulthood.

This book is for people who want clarity, depth, and meaningful reflection on what it actually means to grow up, rather than simply getting older.
Book about maturity and growing up

What this book explores

This book explores what it means to grow up psychologically, rather than simply getting older. It looks at the subtle ways people adapt, cope, and manage their lives, and how those patterns can begin to limit rather than support them over time.

Drawing on themes that emerge repeatedly in the counselling room, the book reflects on emotional maturity, responsibility, and the point at which insight alone no longer feels sufficient. It asks what it means to take responsibility for the stance you take toward your life, your relationships, and the direction you are moving in.

Rather than offering techniques or answers, the book stays with the questions that tend to surface when familiar ways of living no longer quite work, but something more honest has not yet taken shape.

This book may speak to you if:

  • You feel older, but not necessarily more grown-up inside.
  • You understand yourself well, but notice the same difficulties repeating.
  • You feel a pull toward more responsibility, but are unsure what that really means.
  • You sense that insight has taken you as far as it can.
  • You are questioning how you live, not just how you feel.
  • You want depth and honesty rather than motivation or reassurance.

What this book is not:

  • It is not a self-help manual or a guide to feeling better quickly.
  • It does not offer techniques, strategies, or step-by-step solutions.
  • It is not about optimisation, productivity, or performance.
  • It does not promise clarity, confidence, or resolution.
